Who we are

Our Man Overseas was built by a senior international touring and production professional with over 25 years of experience working across the UK, EU, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. That background means one thing for a money comparison site: we actually live this.

We move money between the UK and Thailand every month. We send to accounts in Malaysia, the UAE and Singapore. We've had the HSBC account freeze experience. We've watched exchange rate differences add up to thousands of pounds over a year. We've tested every service listed on this site with real money — not synthetic test transfers.

Our Man Overseas exists because every other comparison site we found was either out of date, written by people who'd never actually transferred money internationally, or optimised purely for UK-to-Europe transfers with no depth on Southeast Asia and Middle East corridors where there's a significant and underserved expat community.

Our editorial standards

Every provider recommendation on this site is based on our own testing and research. We do not accept payment from providers to influence our recommendations, ratings or editorial content. Our ratings are our own.

We update our rate data monthly. Exchange rates change constantly — we note when data was last collected on every page. Always verify the current rate on the provider's website before transferring.

How we make money

Our Man Overseas is free to use. We earn money through affiliate commissions — a small fee paid to us by providers when you sign up through our links. The most common structure is a fixed fee per verified new customer (for example, Wise pays approximately £10 per new user who makes a qualifying transfer).

This creates an obvious potential conflict of interest: are we recommending the provider that pays us the most? We're not — and here's why you can trust that:

• We'd recommend Wise regardless of commission because we use it ourselves. Our credibility as a comparison site is worth more than inflated commissions from worse providers
• We list providers we don't have affiliate relationships with when they're genuinely relevant (e.g. we mention Remitly's Express option because it's legitimately the fastest for UK-India transfers)
• We actively warn against high-commission providers like Western Union when their rates are poor
• All affiliate links are clearly labelled. If you'd prefer not to generate a commission for us, go directly to the provider's website — the rates and services are identical
